Instructions

Decide whether your party will be a cocktail or dinner party.
With a group of 40 or less, serve at least six different types of appetizers.
With a group of 40 or more, serve at least eight different types of appetizers.

Guests love variety! Also, choose hot and cold foods so that something is Always available. Discuss with your catering professional which appetizers are
most popular and serve more of them. And always consider “bulk” items…breads – “brochette”, cheeses and hummus.
Multiply 12 appetizers per person by the total number of guests to calculate the total amount of appetizers needed for a cocktail party. Divide the answer by the number of appetizer types served. That's the required total number of appetizers for a cocktail party.
Divide the answer in half for the total number required for a dinner party

So lets say you have 30 guests for a cocktail party.
Multiply 30 guests X 12 appetizers each == that’s 360 pieces
Serving dinner?
Multiply 30 guests X 6 appetizers each == that’s 180 pieces + entree
So if you’re serving 6 different appetizers to your 30 guests proceeding dinner
you will need 180 pieces, or 30 pieces of each appetizer.

Example 1: Cocktail Party for 30 guests

30 x 12 = 360 bites (this is the number of total bites you need)

    a - 8 appetizers:

    360 / 8 = 45 (each appetizer should feed 45 guests)

    b- 12 appetizers:

    360/12 = 30  (each appetizer should feed 30 guests)

Notes: If you choose less variety of appetizers you need to increase amount – If you choose more variety of appetizers you need to order less amount.

Example 2: Dinner Party for 30 guests

30x6 = 180 bites appetizers (this is the number of total bites you need + entree)

    a- 4 appetizers:

    180/4 = 45 (each appetizer should feed 45 guests) following the entrée

    b- 6 appetizers:

    180/ 6 = 30 (each appetizer should feed 30 guests) following the entrée
